Amended Nomination arrangements for inter co-op transfers
The object of this service would to be take advantage of the London Federation of Housing Co-ops wide geographical scope to enable housed members the opportunity to freely move within the co-op community as and when vacancies occur.
Certain checks and balances should be observed to ensure nominated co-op members are suitable for such transfers
1. They should be already housed by the donor co-op
2. They should be clear of any rent arrears
3. They should come with a letter of recommendation/nomination from the chair of the donor co-op
4. The receiving coop will have the right to home visit the nominated members existing property
5. The receiving co-op will have the right to interview the nominated member 6. The receiving co-op will have the right to decline an offer of housing
The process would involve:
1. The receiving co-op entering details of the vacancy on the Forum page of LFHC including all relevant information (geographical/ rental amount/ property details/contact details /closing date for nominations. etc.)
2. The interested member will then approach the chair of their co-op (donor co-op) and ask to be nominated
3. The chair of the donor co-op may nominate the tenant for transfer if they consider the transaction adheres to the aforementioned checks and balances 4. The receiving coop will interview/ home visit and make their decision
These are the criteria that I feel are important but as the scheme matures it should be monitored and processes updated to suit any new circumstances

The criteria sounds fine and I look forward to asking our Chair to nominate some of our members to other co-op when spaces become available as we are in the process of trying to re-house 29 members of which 2-6 of the tenants would be ideal candidates to move on to other co-ops.
